The Role

TravelPerk is seeking an International Tax Director to join the corporate tax team and play an integral role to drive tax efficiencies and standardization in both our US and international tax compliance and reporting.  By joining TravelPerk, you’ll have the opportunity to impact our operations on a global scale, by solving complex tax issues, improving existing processes and driving strategic decisions that affect the Company’s global tax position.  At the same time, you will get to build a global tax function.  You will also be involved in the commercial part of the business working with the product team to develop tax products and with the sales and marketing team to bring these products to our customers.

What you will do:

  • Build, lead, develop and mentor a world class global tax team.
  • Develop a framework and tools to monitor and improve efficiencies in global tax reporting requirements.
  • Work with external professional advisors to ensure that all global tax compliance obligations are met and that the tax structure is efficient.
  • Support tax value added projects such as R&D credit studies, credit documentation including foreign tax credits and investment tax credits.
  • Foster effective working relationships with finance, legal, IT and other functions on a global level.
  • Work with product teams as the subject matter expert to develop industry leading tax products and help the sales and marketing teams to position the products.
  • Prepare technical memos on technical tax matters.

What you need:

  • 8-10 years tax experience in public accounting firms and/or large multi-national companies with 5-6 years experience in international tax.
  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • International tax experience, with a particular emphasis on the US and UK.
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. federal and state income tax law.
  • Experience across all tax heads but a particular emphasis on: corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing and taxation of equity related compensation. 
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate problems and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, influence and drive change while building rapport and credibility quickly with all levels in the organisation.
  • An interest in continued development and operating outside of your comfort zone.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English.

Strong preference for…

  • CPA or equivalent
  • Having experience working in the tech industry.
  • Having been involved in designing customer facing tax products.

As such, this role requires you to be within commuting distance of our  London hub. We fundamentally believe in meeting in real life to improve connectivity, productivity, and creativity, ultimately making us a great workplace.
